Together, we make a difference: Soroptimist International Global Impact Report

Soroptimist International launched its Global Impact Report 2012-13, demonstrating the collective impact of SI’s work around the world, educating, empowering and enabling opportunities for women and girls.

Educate, Empower, Enable

In 2012, Soroptimists reported on 3,727 projects to promote women and girls’ participation in education and leadership. Nearly 110,000 women and girls were educated, empowered and enabled.

SI evidence shows that small scale projects, together, can have huge scale impact improving the lives of women and girls.

A Global Voice

Thanks to our Consultative Status at the UN, SI was invited to deliver statements to 193 government officials at the UN on 10 separate occasions.

The programme work of over 80,000 Soroptimists worldwide underpinned all of our advocacy and informed our policy recommendations.

Eliminating Gender-Based Violence

1 in 3 women worldwide will experience gender-violence. This rises to as much as 70% in some countries.

Yet research shows that interventions, policies, and programmes can and do make a difference. The most successful tool is education. Soroptimists worldwide are using education and empowerment to change attitudes, including among men and boys.

Enough is Enough

SI’s campaign Enough is Enough: End Violence Against Women reached over 16,000 individuals through social media channels.

Clubs in 15 countries in all 4 Federations took action on International Women’s Day.

Standing up for women and girls

720 Soroptimist projects targeted communities or countries to change the social and political environment for the betterment of women.

260 of these projects addressed this year’s focus, violence against women and girls. Countless individuals heard the messages.
