A New Path for Milena and Her Children
Milena’s journey reflects the determination it takes to keep moving forward while carrying the daily responsibilities of motherhood, education, and financial uncertainty.
At 30 years old, Milena has faced challenges that many people may never encounter. Rather than allowing those experiences to define her future, she has drawn from them as a source of personal growth and a reason to help others.
Milena is the mother of two young children and is currently enrolled full-time in a Professional Counselling Diploma program. Her goal is to become a registered clinical counsellor working with families, mothers, and children, particularly those navigating difficult experiences of their own.
Pursuing an education as a single parent requires persistence. There are also moments of sacrifice and careful choices. Financial insecurity remains part of Milena’s reality, but so does her commitment to building a stable and meaningful future.
Her kids are watching their mother pursue her goals while also continuing her education, and soon will see her embark on a career rooted in compassion and service. Through her example, they are learning that hardship does not have to determine what comes next and that it is possible to build a different path.
Milena’s desire to turn what she has lived through into support for other women and families speaks to both her resilience and her generosity.
Soroptimist International of Vancouver is proud to recognize Milena as a 2026 Live Your Dream Award recipient and to support her as she continues her studies and works toward the future she is creating for herself, her children, and the families she hopes one day to serve.
