Helen McCrae Award 2020 Recipient: Priscilla Chen, BCIT
Five years of volunteering at the Royal Columbian Hospital in the emergency department and intensive care unit has truly inspired me to become a nurse. While studying to become a registered nurse, I have learned to advocate for patients and empower them to be active participants of their own care. I also learned to advocate for equity and justice for vulnerable populations and to collaborate interprofessionally and intersectorally to implement strategies in achieving equitable healthcare.

Soroptimist International of Vancouver (SI-Vancouver) is celebrating its 90th anniversary on April 24th between 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Exactly 90 years ago to the day, in the same place, a pioneering group of women came together. They were the women who had cut their hair, raised their hemline, thrown away their corsets and stormed their way into the business world. And 90 years ago what did these women want?
