Violet Richardson Award 2013 Recipient – Vivien Wong
Congratulations! Soroptimist International of Vancouver recognized Vivien’s efforts to make our community a better place.

Charity: International Issues Club ($500.00 Award)
Currently in Grade 11 and attending Steveston London Secondary School in Richmond Bc, she has volunteered 300 + hours in her community and have been on the honour roll since Grade 8. Currently, she is the Co-President of two clubs, International Issues Club and Interact Club and Vice President for a club called Sharks Ambassador Club. On top of that, she is also part of the Student Council, First Responsers, Engineering club and library monitor Club.
As Co-President of the International Issues Club, she is the main person who makes the decision and have been responsible for organizing events such the the Universal Childrens day, Human Rights Day, 30 Hour Famine, Human Rights Day, and International Women’s Day.
Currently, she is in charge of a project called the Operation Christmas Child. This is a project where they pack gifts and present into shoeboxes and ship them around the world to kids that don’t get Christmas presents on Christmas day.
She is very involve as Co-president of the Interact Club , an organization sponsored by the Sunset Rotary Club. Projects that she has been involved with the Club are based on community service, finance, international understanding and club service. She had helped raise awareness about Polio in her school.
Being a leader for her meant that she had to be confident about herself, learn to control the group and learn to relax when needed.
One of her goals this is year is to expand the club she is active in by offering more speakers and planning more events to get student in her school to become more aware about what is happening around the world.
